Hodge Podge

I love love love this time of year!!!  For us we love having a garden and this year we decided not to have a graden at our own home but to be part of a community garden out at Micah's parents place.  There are a lot of different families in the garden and everyone has 1-2 plots.  Everyone plants their own vegetables and we all go to the garden 1-2 times each week.

We love being part of this community!

This year we decided to just plant beans, peas, tomatoes and one cucumber plant in our personal garden.  Everyone from the garden and other family members planted a large field of potatoes that we are also enjoying.
So what do we do with all this awesome produce??  One meal that we really love is called hodge podge.  Its basically all your harvest veggies so we have beans, peas, potatoes and carrots.

The carrots were bought at the local farmers market the day I made the hodge podge.

You can also add onions but since I am nursing they don't really agree with Abraham so I decide to leave them out of our pot.

Once you wash up the veggies you bring the potatoes and carrots to a boil in a pot with just enough water to cover.  After about 10 minutes add the beans and peas.  When everything is tender and the way you like it (I like a little crunch in the veggies) you drain the water and add some heavy cream and butter to the pot.

We love this meal served with delicious BBQ'd sausages.   Hope you enjoy a Maritime favorite.
